Langley & Co is proud to announce that it advised Giant Steps on the recent sale to Jackson Family Wines.

The iconic brand is recognised globally as a world-class producer with super premium vineyards located in the Yarra Valley.  Under the guidance of founder, Phil Sexton, Giant Steps boasts numerous accolades including being named as one of the Top 100 Wineries in the World six years in a row by US magazine, Wine & Spirits.

We sat down with Phil more than 18 months ago to plan a sale of Giant Steps and had a discussion about who would be the best fit and most logical buyer. Jackson Family Wines came out on top of our list. They had the expertise and resources to take the brand to the next level; they had a track-record in Australia with Yangarra and Hickinbotham; they had a passion for high-end Pinot Noir and Chardonnay; they had obvious reach into the US market; and most importantly they were a family-owned company with similar values to Phil and his team at Giant Steps.

This is a great outcome for Giant Steps and the Yarra Valley community, and we believe also for the Australian wine category. To have a US company of this calibre so positively embrace one of our best has to be good news for Australia’s fine wine prospects in the US Market.
