SA Government Announces $109 Million Wine Industry Support Package
The South Australian Government has unveiled a $109 million Wine Industry Transition and Growth Package. It aims to help the state’s $2.4 billion wine sector through global oversupply, falling grape prices and changing consumer demand.
A $100 million government-backed loan scheme lies at the heart of the package and provides eligible growers with up to $500,000, with no principal or interest payments for the first two years, to help transition unviable vineyards to more sustainable, higher-value land uses. Growers receive funding for independent diversification planning advice.
The package also expands the Global Wine Growth Program and addresses inventory surpluses. It appoints a dedicated Wine Industry Coordinator.
